Discover What’s Keeping Your Metabolism Stuck

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything "right"—cutting carbs, skipping desserts, hitting your workouts—but the scale still won’t budge, you’re not alone. More importantly: you’re not broken.

For women with PCOS, weight loss isn’t just about willpower or calories in vs. calories out. Your body plays by a different set of metabolic rules, and success starts when you stop fighting it—and start listening to it.

That’s why, inside the PCOS Momentum Membership, we begin with one powerful, eye-opening practice: tracking.

Why This Matters

Your hunger levels, energy dips, and sugar cravings aren’t random—they’re messages. Messages from your metabolism trying to tell you what’s working and what’s not. When we tune into these signals, we start to understand the root causes of what’s keeping us stuck.

More often than not, the culprits are:

  • Blood sugar crashes

  • Cortisol spikes from stress

  • Insulin resistance (aka Cellular Desensitization)

These are all signs that your body is in what I call Metabolic Lockdown—a state where your energy gets stored as fat instead of being used.

Blood Sugar Crashes

Imagine your metabolism like a campfire. You throw on a bunch of sugar (quick-burning carbs), and it flares up fast—but burns out just as quickly. This crash leaves you feeling tired, shaky, irritable, and craving another quick fix. Over time, these rollercoaster crashes wear your system down and signal your body to store fat for "emergency use."

Cortisol Spikes from Stress

Think of cortisol like your internal alarm system. When life gets hectic, your body releases cortisol to help you cope—but when that alarm stays on too long, it throws everything off. High cortisol makes your body prioritize survival, not fat burning. It increases belly fat, sugar cravings, and disrupts your ability to recover and feel rested.

Insulin Resistance (Cellular Desensitization)

Insulin is your body’s key to unlock cells and let energy in. But with PCOS, the lock is jammed. Your cells stop listening, so instead of using the energy from food, your body stores it as fat. This is what I call Cellular Desensitization—and it's one of the biggest reasons traditional diets don’t work for you.

Metabolic Lockdown

When all of these issues stack up, your body goes into Metabolic Lockdown. It’s like your energy centers have shut the gates. You can eat perfectly and exercise consistently, but if your body feels unsafe or overloaded, it won’t budge. The good news? You can gently unlock it—by listening, adjusting, and supporting your body with what it actually needs.

How This All Ties to PCOS Weight Gain

Now, let’s connect the dots. If you’re living with PCOS, these systems don’t just act up randomly—they team up against your weight loss efforts. Blood sugar crashes push you into a cycle of cravings and energy dips. Chronic stress keeps your cortisol high, which pushes your body deeper into fat-storage mode. And insulin resistance means even the healthy food you eat isn’t being used the way it should be.

This is why so many women with PCOS feel like their body is betraying them. Because in a way—it kind of is. But not out of spite. Out of protection. Your body is responding to chaos with lockdown. It’s not lazy or broken—it’s overwhelmed.

The more we understand these systems, the more empowered we become to make meaningful change.

The Power of Awareness

Awareness isn’t about judgment. It’s about clarity. When you understand how your metabolism responds to stress, food, and energy demands, you stop blaming yourself—and start making smarter, more supportive choices.

Next week, we’ll begin making targeted adjustments to your meals to support blood sugar balance and boost energy naturally.

But for now? Just notice. Be curious. And trust that your body wants to feel better—and it can.
